A post-rock and post-metal band from Sweden

Sagor Som Leder Mot Slutet is an instrumental post-rock and post-metal band from Sweden. The independent quartet is made famous for mixing darker and heavier themes with gentleness and fragility – both attacking and caressing the senses at the same time, capturing the elements uniquely and successfully. Each album tells an intense and intimate story from beginning to end, leaving room for the listener’s personal interpretation and also conveying the intention of the band’s somewhat long and obscure name, which translates into “Tales that lead to the end”. The songs are composed and influenced by a wide variety of genres and instrumentations, constantly pushing the limits of contemporary post-rock and post-metal and can surprise even the most experienced ears through the musical narration. This music is made for getting lost and found again.

Debut album “I” released with a unique forest soundscape, Post Rock Essentials calling it one of the best albums of 2016. It was a completely DIY project by the original members from composition to mastering. Nominated as “Best newcomer” and “Best album”, it culminated in aesthetic and visual live shows like VIVID Post Rock Festival and later got recognition for being one of the post-rock and post-metal cult classics of the decade.

The follow up studio album “π” is about reaching the far ends and depths of the world, drawing inspiration from the sea and in-cooperating equally haunting as beautiful violins performed by Malmö Opera concert-maestro Wojtek Mileros. Mixed and mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna) and recorded at legendary Studio Gröndahl 2018, it greatly improved the dynamics of the Scandinavian melancholic yet beautiful soundscape.

In 2019 Sagor changed bass guitarist – meanwhile Swedish motion picture “Iris”, directed by Mattias Olsson for Midvinterfilm (Försvunnen) premiered at international film festivals and won best narrative short, for which Sagor composed and recorded the original motion picture soundtrack.

The newly released third album “III” looks towards the existential silence and cosmic vastness of time and space – the creation, the void – everything and nothing in between. Mixed and mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna) and locally brewed in South Sound Studio, this time with a more synthesized polished and enlarged palette. This release paved the way for Sagor taking stage at Dunk! Festival, performing a set leaving the audience in awe and reviewers proclaiming it the best surprise and act of the festival.
